Class III/IV+ Kayak & Cultural Tour

Day 1.  Arrive Paro in western Bhutan. Visit National Museum, have lunch, visit Dzong. Settle into hotel, outfit kayaks.
 
Day 2.  Paddle the Class III/IV Paro Chuu on our way out of town. Drive east 1 hr to Thimphu, settle into hotel. Lunch. Sight-see Shop.

Day 3. Morning sightsee Thimphu. Drive east over 3420 mt Dochu La. Late Lunch. Settle into basecamp. (3.5 hr drive)

Day 4.  Paddle Upper Mo Chuu class III/IV to base camp for lunch. PM tour Punakha Dzong. Return to luxury base camp for dinner.

Day 5. Paddle Upper Upper Mo Chuu class III/IV to base camp for lunch. Afternoon hike to Temple. Return to luxury base camp for dinner.

Day 6. While boats are being driven around to Po Chuu put in, we will hike a scenic trail, meet the vehicle and drive the remainder of distance to put in on the Po Chhu class III/IV and paddle. Take out at confluence Mo and Po Chuu. Short drive to lunch, visit Monastery of Divine Madman. Drive 30 min to hotel for dinner and nights lodging. Talo

Day 7. Travel Day. Drive east over Pele La (11,200 ft). Hotel (Yangkhil) outside Trongsa. (6 hr drive). tour the Trongsa Dzong

Day 8. Drive (1.5 hr) and run Class III-IV upper Mangde Chuu. Second run.  (picnic lunch while we wait for boats to go up) Drive to Endocholling, summer palace of the first king (of five) where we stay for three nights in a luxury base camp. (2 + hr drive)

Day 9. Paddle the gem, Ema Datzi Canyon Class IV+ section of the lower Mangde Chhu, or do a hike. This evening’s dinner will be hosted by Ashi Kezang (the great granddaughter of the first King) with the cultural Mask Dances performed by the Monastic Body and students of Endochholing, and the Folk Dances by the local villagers!

Day 10. Leisure start. Repeat the Ema Datzi Canyon run, or do a hike or chill.

Day 11. Travel day. Return west over Pele La. Spend night in Wangdue. (8 hr drive)

Day 12. Double run of Dang Chuu. Return to same lodging.

Day 13. Morning drive 2.5 hr. to capital “city” of Thimphu... shopping… lunch… sightseeing, OR drive final hour to Paro to hike to the renown Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Dzong). Farewell banquet at hotel in Paro.

Day 14. Short drive to airport to catch early flight out of country.
